Bananas: digestive aid

Bananas: digestive aid

Bananas contain bioavailable proteins, beneficial omega compounds, fiber, water, antioxidants and healing phytochemicals such as potassium. Foods high in potassium, such as bananas, are extremely beneficial for many digestive system ailments. Potassium is beneficial for nerve function in the digestive tract.

Bananas are also anti-pathogenic and an amazing prebiotic – meaning they help destroy and eliminate non-productive bacteria in the gut by binding to them and thus nourishing the beneficial micro-organisms there. Bananas also do not feed pathogenic microorganisms such as bacteria and viruses. Pathogens are at the root of many digestive conditions and symptoms, as well as many other chronic diseases. Bananas have antiviral, antibacterial and antifungal properties.

Bananas soothe the intestinal tract. They have the "walking on water" quality that Anthony William calls "the Jesus effect." This refers to the way they move through the intestinal tract without touching the lining of the intestine. Chemical compounds in bananas form a film-like shield between the banana and the lining of the intestinal tract. While the nutrients in the banana (and other foods in the gut at the same time) can pass through the shield and be absorbed into the gut lining, breaking down the banana does not rub against the gut lining. Its chemical compound coats and soothes the mucous membrane like a healing salve.

Bananas are also antispasmodic and can relieve stomach cramps and stress-related gastrointestinal disorders. Bananas are best eaten when they start to turn yellow, are still slightly firm and have small brown dots on the skin.
