All squash plants have amazing medicinal properties, including watermelon. Lime is also a key ingredient in this recipe. Discover some of the healing benefits of these special foods below.

Watermelon: A powerful liver cleansing food due to watermelon's ability to hydrate the blood on its own and help relieve an overworked liver condition. The combination of the unique content of living water in watermelon and its nutrients allows the heart to work less; Watermelon dilutes dirty, toxic and fat-filled blood, allowing the heart to not be overwhelmed by pumping blood. This reduces some of the liver's responsibility to protect the heart, freeing it to focus on other important chemical functions that are needed at the time. Watermelon also provides the liver with hydration to hold onto for when you're in a drought, living a chronically dehydrated lifestyle. They easily flush toxins from the intestinal tract and restore hydrochloric acid reserves in the stomach. And since bile is not needed to break down and digest watermelon, the liver can work to restore its bile reservoir.

Lemon and lime: Improve hydrochloric acid production as well as bile production and its efficiency. Contains trace mineral salts that break down pathogens such as non-productive bacteria, molds, yeasts and fungi to help protect the liver's immune system. The rich calcium content in lemons and limes binds with the vitamin C in them, and both components enter the liver, where they wake up a stagnant, sluggish, fatty liver, helping to loosen and disperse fat cells. Lemons and limes cleanse the dirty blood syndrome, improve glucose absorption and even protect the pancreas.
