Description
Quinoa is a grain crop grown primarily for its edible seeds. It is a false wheat plant, because it belongs to the Stipaceae family and not to the Cereal family (like wheat), botanically related to spinach and styra (amaranth). Quinoa is a seed, not a grain. It comes from the Andes, from the northwestern part of South America. It is a plant with high nutritional value and many useful properties. And its leaves are very useful, as are those of a number of leafy vegetables, such as spinach.
How to use: Soak the quinoa in water for about 5 minutes. Wash it several times and strain. Mix one part quinoa with two parts water and cook for about 15-20 minutes.
Storage: In a dry and cool place at room temperature.
