Heavy Metal Detox Smoothies

Смути за детоксикация от тежки метали

This cocktail is not only delicious, but also perfectly formulated. It contains five key ingredients that work in synergy to remove heavy metals such as mercury, lead, aluminum, nickel, copper, and cadmium accumulated in your body.

Toxic heavy metals are found almost everywhere around us, in things we come into contact with every day, such as aluminum cans and foil, batteries, metal utensils, old paint, and even in the foods we eat. For example, pesticides and herbicides (which are difficult to completely avoid even with a strict organic diet) are common sources of heavy metals. As a result, most of us carry heavy metals that have been with us for most of our lives and that have accumulated deep within our cells.

Unfortunately, it is these "old" metals that have been in our bodies for a long time that pose the greatest threat to our health. For example, over time, toxic heavy metals can oxidize, damage surrounding tissues, and cause inflammation. They literally poison our bodies and can cause damage to almost every system and organ, including the brain, liver, digestive system, and other parts of the nervous system. Toxic heavy metals are a huge burden on our immune system, making us vulnerable to various diseases.

While all types of toxins are harmful, heavy metals pose a unique threat. Not only are they harmful in their own right, but they are also a form of neurotoxin (a poison that disrupts nerve function and confuses the immune system). Heavy metal neurotoxins can inflame and irritate our central nervous system (especially the brain), causing a host of symptoms such as memory loss, brain fog, fatigue, and depression. Toxic heavy metals can also stimulate inflammation in the digestive tract, releasing toxins into our intestines. As if that weren’t bad enough, heavy metals also serve as a food source for viruses, bacteria, parasites, and other pathogens in our bodies.

Heavy metals, for example, can serve as a breeding ground for group A and group B streptococci, Escherichia coli, Clostridium difficile, Helicobacter pylori, and yeast cells. This can create an overgrowth of many bacteria in our intestines, leading to a condition known as SIBO (small intestinal bacterial overgrowth). It is characterized by bloating, abdominal pain, diarrhea, constipation (or both), and can lead to nutrient deficiencies. Additionally, when viruses such as Epstein-Barr and herpes zoster feed on toxic heavy metals, it can cause symptoms such as numbness, tingling, fatigue, anxiety, palpitations, ringing in the ears, dizziness, and vertigo, as well as pain in the neck, knees, feet, back of the head, and a number of problems often attributed to other causes.

In today's modern lifestyle, it's almost impossible not to ingest some of these toxic heavy metals, so it's vital to our health to get them out of our bodies before they cause further damage. Fortunately, it's relatively easy to remove them from our bodies by eating the right foods. Adding the following stellar selection of foods to your diet and making sure to eat them regularly will help you rid your body of heavy metals:

Spirulina: This edible blue-green algae draws heavy metals from the brain, central nervous system, and liver, and also absorbs those extracted using barley grass juice powder. Take 1-2 tsp. powder or 3-6 capsules mixed in water, coconut water , or juice.

Barley Grass Juice Powder: Prepares mercury so it can be fully absorbed by the spirulina. This nutritious herb has the ability to draw heavy metals from the spleen, intestinal tract, pancreas, thyroid, and reproductive system. Drink 1-2 tsp. or 3-6 capsules mixed in coconut water or juice.

Fresh coriander: Penetrates deep into hard-to-reach areas of the body, drawing out metals accumulated in the past (so it's a great helper for eliminating mercury that you inherited!). Blend a cup into a smoothie or juice, or add to a salad or guacamole.

Wild blueberries: They extract heavy metals from brain tissue, healing and repairing the “cracks” formed by oxidation after heavy metal removal. It is important to consume wild blueberries (not cultivated ones) as they possess unique phytonutrients with special detoxifying abilities. The powerful antioxidants in wild blueberries help to repair any oxidative damage left behind after heavy metal removal. This is especially important for brain tissue - in fact, wild blueberries are the most powerful food for stopping or in some cases reversing the process that causes Alzheimer’s and dementia. Eat at least one cup of wild blueberries daily or 1 tablespoon of wild blueberry powder.

Note: While cultivated blueberries are nutritious, they do not have the metal-extracting ability of wild blueberries. Wild blueberries can be found in the frozen food section of most supermarkets.

Atlantic dulse: In addition to mercury, this edible seaweed has the ability to bind to lead, aluminum, copper, cadmium, and nickel. Unlike other seaweeds, Atlantic dulse is a powerful mercury remover in its own right. It reaches deep into the digestive tract and intestines, finding mercury, binding to it, and not releasing it until it is eliminated from the body. Eat two tablespoons of dulse flakes daily, or the same amount of strips if in whole leaf form, or 1-2 droppers of Atlantic dulse, a non-alcoholic extract from Vimergy.

Note: If you are concerned about mercury in dulse itself, since it comes from the ocean, keep in mind that Atlantic dulse does not excrete any mercury it may have into the body. It retains mercury as it passes through the body and even retains other metals it encounters along the way, thus removing them from the body.

Atlantic dulse is an important part of the food team because it can hang around near the “finish line” (i.e., the colon), waiting for other foods that may have absorbed heavy metals along the way. It serves as a fallback option in emergencies, ensuring that any heavy metals that have made it to the colon actually leave the body.

Today's smoothie recipe offers you a simple and delicious way to incorporate all five of these foods into your daily diet in just one serving. Drink this smoothie every day for optimal results.
