Nowadays, our liver is more stressed than ever. With environmental toxins and processed foods loading our bodies, a sluggish and fatty liver is becoming an increasingly common problem. Although some liver cleansing techniques have become fashionable, a handful of cherries can do much more. Cherries are an amazing way to revitalize this organ – they are the ultimate liver tonic, cleanser and rejuvenator.

Cherries support the formation of healthy hemoglobin and are also anti-cancer agents, particularly effective in treating non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, melanoma and glioblastoma (a type of brain tumor). Cherries sharpen the mind by cleansing the bowels – they relieve constipation better than prunes! They also cleanse the bladder and help relieve spastic bladder and bladder prolapse. Cherries are also one of the best foods for strengthening the endocrine system by stimulating or suppressing appetite as needed. If you're looking to lose weight, cherries are your new best friend.

In the mineral world, we are familiar with the concept of macrominerals, which our bodies rely on in larger amounts, and micronutrients, which are just as important to our functioning, although we need them in smaller doses. Cherries, for example, are a great source of trace elements such as zinc and iron. As anyone who suffers from anemia can tell you, iron deficiency isn't a minor problem just because iron is a trace element—it's vital no matter what.

The same concept applies to amino acids, although science has yet to focus on this. In addition to the amino acids we know, there are also tiny, micro forms of amino acids that become cofactors of their macro forms, and cherries are rich in both macro and micro amino acids (including threonine, tryptophan and lysine) that specifically work in tandem with the hormone melatonin to give your brain and body incredible stress relief. When boosted in this way, melatonin also acts as an antioxidant to protect the brain from Alzheimer's disease, dementia and brain tumors.

The phytochemical compounds and agents in cherries are amazing for removing radiation and repairing nerve myelin damage. Women especially benefit from the cleansing properties of cherries: cherries remove toxins from the uterus and the rest of the reproductive system and help reduce fibroids and ovarian cysts.

And if you're feeling emotionally drained, cherries can steer your feelings in a new direction. Just by looking at a bowl of cherries, joy instantly enters the essence of a person. Cherries ignite enthusiasm and create positive excitement. They are an amazing fruit that can keep one's spirit light.

A spiritual lesson

Cherries teach us patience. If you rush while eating a cherry, you may injure yourself with the pit in it. In this way, cherries teach us to take our time, to be careful and consider our actions to minimize mistakes and pain.

Tips

  • Cherries are so purifying, detoxifying so many impurities, that they serve us best in limited amounts. When consuming this fruit, do not overdo it. Consume cherries in small portions spread throughout the day rather than a large portion at once.
  • When picking red cherries at the market or grocery store, look for the darkest ones. Those with deeper shades have the most healing properties. If the red cherries you're looking at are too light in color, it means the cherry tree's soil didn't have the optimal level of minerals.
